FAYETTEVILLE – SteelFab plans to add 38 jobs and invest more than $19 million in an expansion of its Cumberland County manufacturing operation, state officials announced Wednesday.
The project will add 108,000 square feet to the Fayetteville facility. The new space is expected to include three fabrication bays, two preparation bays, two shape lines, an office and a break room.
Annual salaries for the new positions will average $70,106, compared with Cumberland County’s average wage of $47,175, according to the North Carolina Department of Commerce. The jobs could add more than $2.6 million in annual payroll to the region.
SteelFab of Virginia Inc. received a performance-based grant of $125,000 from the One North Carolina Fund. The program provides no money upfront, and payment depends on meeting job-creation and capital-investment targets.
SteelFab’s website describes the company as a third-generation family-owned steel fabricator with roots in Charlotte and lists Fayetteville among its fabrication locations. The state said the company can fabricate as much as 2,000 tons of material each week for commercial and industrial projects.
The state announcement did not provide a construction timetable or a breakdown of the new positions.
