WINSTON-SALEM – The YMCA of Northwest North Carolina has named Donna Rodgers president and CEO after she served as interim chief executive since May.

The organization announced the appointment Aug. 28. Rodgers becomes the first woman to serve as president and CEO in the association’s 138-year history.

Rodgers has worked for the association for more than 22 years. She joined in 2004 as vice president and chief financial officer and most recently served as executive vice president, chief operating officer and chief financial officer.

She succeeds Darryl Head, who left earlier this year after two decades with the association to become president and CEO of the YMCA of the First Coast in Jacksonville, Florida.

The association serves communities across eight Northwest North Carolina counties. It said operating revenue has grown from approximately $25 million in 2004 to $42 million, while net assets have more than doubled from $28 million to $57 million during Rodgers’ tenure.
