Kontoor Brands names C.J. King to lead Helly Hansen North America Sport

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Kontoor Brands has appointed C.J. King as general manager of Helly Hansen, North America, Sport, effective Aug. 31.

King will lead the North American sport business, including commercial strategy and marketplace execution, and join the Helly Hansen leadership team. He will report to Børre Hegbom, senior vice president and global head of Helly Hansen, according to Greensboro-based Kontoor.

King spent about a decade at Arc’teryx in senior commercial roles, including vice president of North American wholesale, vice president and general manager of North America, and vice president of global commercial. Earlier in his career, he held positions at Smartwool, PEARL iZUMi and The North Face.

The appointment comes days before Kontoor’s Helly Hansen Investor Day, scheduled for Sept. 2 at 8 a.m. Eastern. The company did not tie the appointment to a specific financial target or organizational restructuring.
