STANLEY — Blum plans an $82 million expansion of its Lincoln County furniture-hardware operation, adding 20 jobs and a 67,000-square-foot showroom and office building.

Lincoln County commissioners approved an industrial incentive for the project after a Sept. 21 public hearing. The county incentive packet, which uses “AAA” as a public placeholder, sets an expected capital investment of $82,471,194, requires 20 added jobs averaging $25 an hour including benefits and makes $375,834.71 in grants contingent on completion and performance.

Business North Carolina reported Sept. 21 that the company is Blum and that the expansion is expected to open in 2028. The grant is tied to the investment and does not make the full $82 million public spending.

The project includes a new showroom and office building, along with expansion and renovation work at Blum’s existing Stanley campus. No construction start date was disclosed.

The 20 planned positions would expand a workforce of nearly 500 employees at the site, according to Business North Carolina. Blum has operated in Lincoln County since 1979.

Charlotte Business Journal separately reported the $82 million investment, 20 jobs and 67,000-square-foot showroom and office building. The publication ranked the project as Lincoln County’s fourth-largest economic-development investment since 2013.

Blum manufactures concealed hinges, drawer systems and lift systems for cabinetry. The expansion represents a new capital commitment at an established North Carolina manufacturing operation; the investment, jobs and 2028 opening remain planned until the company completes the work.
