SANFORD — Comfort First Heating & Cooling reported a permanent layoff affecting 67 workers at its Sanford operation, according to a newly updated state workforce notice.
The N.C. Department of Commerce WARN report lists the notice date and state receipt date as Sept. 16. The action is scheduled to take effect Nov. 16 at 7001 Lark Lane.
The state report classifies the action as a permanent layoff, not a facility closure. It does not identify the affected positions, give a reason for the reduction or say whether the 67 workers represent the full Sanford workforce.
Comfort First continues to market heating, air-conditioning, plumbing and generator services across North Carolina. The company’s official website lists Sanford among its service areas, along with markets in the Triangle, Triad, Charlotte, Jacksonville and the Outer Banks.
The WARN report was last modified Sept. 18. Comfort First’s notice is the newest entry in the state’s 2026 summary.
