CHARLOTTE – Huntington Bank has named Ameesh Vakharia executive vice president and chief marketing and digital products officer, putting the Charlotte-based executive over a newly integrated organization.

Vakharia will lead the bank’s brand, marketing and digital product management teams. The newly created role is intended to connect the way Huntington presents its brand with the products and service experiences customers encounter online and in branches.

He reports to Brant Standridge, Huntington’s president of consumer and regional banking. Standridge said combining the groups should help the bank move faster and create more seamless customer experiences. Those benefits are management goals, and Huntington did not provide performance targets for the reorganization.

Vakharia most recently served as executive vice president and chief strategy and brand officer at USAA. There, he led strategy, innovation, digital, marketing, communications, corporate responsibility and membership growth and served on the company’s Executive Council.

He previously served on Truist’s Operating Council, where his responsibilities included retail deposits, small business banking, contact centers, strategy, analytics and the customer experience across multiple channels. Earlier senior leadership roles at SunTrust covered deposits, digital channels, customer experience and enterprise strategy.

Vakharia said in the announcement that customers do not separate a company’s brand promise from the product experience. In a subsequent post confirming his move, he said he had joined Huntington and was drawn to the opportunity to connect brand, customer growth and product experiences.

Huntington also said Vijay Konduru now leads its business innovation and artificial intelligence products organization and Mark Sheehan leads its digital assets organization. The bank described the three leadership assignments as part of a broader effort to move new ideas and products into customer use more quickly.

Huntington is headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, and reported $284 billion in assets and more than 1,400 branches across 21 states. Vakharia’s Charlotte base gives North Carolina a direct connection to the bank’s combined marketing and digital products function. The company did not announce compensation, new jobs, a Charlotte office expansion or a separate effective date.
