CHARLOTTE – Michael P. Lyons became president and chief executive officer of Truist Financial and Truist Bank on Sept. 1, succeeding William H. Rogers Jr.

Lyons also joined the boards of both companies on the transition date, according to a Truist filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Rogers retired from the president and CEO roles and became executive chair. The filing says he plans to serve in that position through Truist’s 2027 annual meeting.

Lyons most recently served as chief executive officer of Fiserv from May 2025 through June 2026. He was president of PNC Financial Services Group and PNC Bank from February 2024 through January 2025 after serving as executive vice president and head of corporate and institutional banking beginning in October 2011.

Earlier, Lyons led corporate development and strategic planning at Bank of America from May 2010 through October 2011.

Truist is headquartered in Charlotte and reported $556 billion in total assets as of June 30, 2026. The company is one of the 10 largest U.S. commercial banks.
