DAVIDSON – MSC Industrial Supply Co. named Rob Kuhns executive vice president and chief financial officer Tuesday, bringing the former TopBuild finance chief to the industrial distributor’s Davidson corporate office.
Kuhns will be based in Davidson, according to the company’s Sept. 8 announcement. He brings more than 30 years of financial experience and most recently served as vice president and chief financial officer at TopBuild Corp., a distributor of insulation and building products.
MSC President and CEO Martina McIsaac said Kuhns’ background in financial strategy, industrial businesses and distribution will support the company’s long-term financial targets and value-creation plans.
Before TopBuild, Kuhns held senior corporate finance roles at Mohawk Industries, NCH Corp. and Ingersoll Rand. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Shippensburg University and a master’s degree in business administration from Southern Methodist University.
The appointment ends an interim period for MSC’s finance leadership. The company’s July 1 quarterly filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission listed Greg Clark as vice president and interim chief financial officer, as well as principal financial and accounting officer.
MSC distributes metalworking, maintenance, repair and operations products and services. The company says it offers about 2.5 million products and employs more than 7,000 associates.
The announcement did not specify Kuhns’ start date or disclose compensation terms.
