RALEIGH – North Carolina awarded 50 grants totaling $2,485,060 to 46 small businesses developing and commercializing new technologies across 13 counties.

The N.C. Department of Commerce made the fiscal 2026 awards on behalf of the North Carolina Board of Science, Technology & Innovation. Supported technologies span pharmaceuticals, health care, defense, advanced materials, seafood production and space.

Eighteen companies received Incentive grants totaling $116,553.37 to help cover costs associated with preparing federal Small Business Innovation Research or Small Business Technology Transfer proposals.

Another 32 companies received $2,368,506.63 through the Matching Program after securing $9.8 million in federal SBIR or STTR awards. Several companies appear in both award groups, accounting for 50 grants among 46 businesses.

Six companies in counties affected by Hurricane Helene received $313,888.52. Matching-grant recipients in those counties could receive an additional $25,000.

The detailed award list includes Raleigh-based AntiXero and Atlantic Fish, Cary-based Atmospheric Plasma Solutions, Research Triangle Park-based CareYaya Health Technologies and Arden-based Converter Source.

The state said the One North Carolina Small Business Program has awarded nearly $45 million to 531 businesses since 2006. Fiscal 2027 solicitations for its Incentive and Matching programs are expected in mid-September.
