ASHEVILLE – Novant Health has completed the final phase of its 38,000-square-foot South Asheville Medical Park, adding an imaging center already offering breast-imaging services and a two-operating-room ambulatory surgery center expected to begin serving patients this fall.
Novant Health announced the completion Sept. 24 after a ribbon-cutting ceremony the previous day. The project converted a former Gold’s Gym at 1815 Hendersonville Road into more than 38,000 square feet of clinical and procedural space.
The medical park brings together women’s specialty care, cancer care, plastic and reconstructive surgery, imaging and outpatient surgery. The imaging center currently offers mammography, breast ultrasound and breast-biopsy services, with PET/CT and bone-density imaging planned.
828newsNOW reported the final-phase completion and the expected fall service timeline. Novant’s current release simultaneously lists breast-imaging services as available, so the package treats full service as phased and does not claim both centers are fully operational.
A North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services record identifies the surgery project as a qualified urban ambulatory surgical facility with two multispecialty operating rooms. The agency determined in December 2025 that the project did not require a certificate of need under the law then in effect.
The completion expands Novant’s outpatient capacity in Western North Carolina and consolidates diagnostic, specialty and surgical services at one address. Novant did not disclose a project cost, construction-related hiring total or permanent-job count in the completion announcement.
