GREENVILLE – Regional Acceptance plans permanent closures affecting 253 employees across its Greenville and Winterville operations, according to new state WARN records.
The North Carolina Department of Commerce WARN summary, updated Sept. 17, lists two notices from Regional Acceptance Corporation. Both notices are dated and were received by the state on Sept. 15.
The larger closure affects 156 employees at 266 Beacon Drive in Winterville and has an effective date of Feb. 28, 2027. A second closure affects 97 employees at 1424 East Fire Tower Road in Greenville and has an effective date of July 31, 2027.
The state classifies both actions as permanent closures. Its summary lists the Winterville record under Halifax County while separately identifying the city and street address as Winterville; this report uses the city and address fields rather than assigning a county to that entry.
The notices follow Truist Financial’s decision to leave near-prime auto lending. Truist said in a Sept. 15 Form 8-K that it had signed a transaction related to its strategic exit from that business. The filing does not mention layoffs, facility closures or the two effective dates.
Regional Acceptance describes itself on its official website as a national auto-finance company and a Truist affiliate. Its website continued to display customer account, payment and service information as of Sept. 17.
The state’s WARN summary does not identify which job functions will be eliminated, whether the reductions will occur in phases, or what severance or transition assistance may be offered. The cited records also do not state that the signed loan transaction is the cause of the closures. The current milestone is the state’s reporting of permanent closure notices for the two eastern North Carolina operations.
