CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Six Flags Entertainment Corporation plans to move its corporate headquarters from Charlotte to Arlington, Texas, by March 2027, shifting the primary home of its corporate leadership and shared business functions out of North Carolina.
The company said its existing office at Choctaw Stadium in Arlington will become its corporate headquarters. A portion of Six Flags’ corporate workforce is already based there.
Chief Executive Officer John Reilly said the move is intended to concentrate personnel, processes and decision-making while improving operational efficiency and collaboration across the company.
Six Flags later told media that all 114 Charlotte-based corporate positions are affected and approximately 100 positions are expected to move to Arlington. The company said it plans to support employees through the transition and that it will continue to be a major employer and economic contributor in the Charlotte metropolitan area through Carowinds and Carolina Harbor.
Carowinds, which sits on the North Carolina-South Carolina state line, is also moving ahead with Rip Roarin’ Falls, a new attraction planned for 2027.
The headquarters move will place Six Flags’ corporate leadership near five of the company’s Texas properties. Six Flags operates 20 amusement parks, 14 water parks and nine resort properties across North America. Six Flags Qiddiya City in Saudi Arabia opened in December 2025 and is operating.
The company announced the headquarters decision Aug. 25. The transition is expected to be completed by March 2027.
Correction: An earlier version incorrectly described Six Flags Qiddiya City as under development and said the company had not disclosed how many Charlotte positions were affected.
