LANDIS – Chinese automotive-lighting manufacturer Xingyu Automotive Lighting Systems plans to invest $50 million in its first U.S. plant, a Rowan County operation expected to create at least 300 jobs over the next several years.

The Rowan Economic Development Council announced that Xingyu selected Landis Ridge Industrial Park for the project. The plant will make plastic injection-molded components used in automotive headlights and taillights for vehicle manufacturers.

Manufacturing Dive reported that the company expects the operation to create between 300 and 500 jobs over the next several years. The publication described the Landis project as Xingyu’s first U.S. manufacturing facility and said no incentive details were disclosed.

The Charlotte Business Journal reported that Xingyu will occupy a 121,800-square-foot facility in Landis and that initial operations are expected in 2027. The building is part of Landis Ridge, an industrial park near Interstate 85 in southern Rowan County.

The disclosed investment and job range make the project a significant Rowan County manufacturing recruitment. Its first-U.S.-plant status also adds a new automotive-lighting manufacturer to the county’s industrial base.

The project remains in the hiring and startup stage. The available announcements do not identify a completed production launch, a final payroll figure or a detailed hiring schedule, so those milestones will determine how quickly the projected business impact reaches the local economy.

For Landis and Rowan County, the announced business consequence is at least $50 million in planned investment and hundreds of jobs. The next material steps are facility outfitting, recruitment and the start of manufacturing operations.
