LINCOLNTON — Lincoln County commissioners rejected a rezoning request for a 507-acre, 618-home planned development near Iron Station, blocking the proposal in its current form.
Lincoln County’s official Sept. 21 meeting video records commissioners voting to deny Planned Development case PD #2026-2 for Old Plank Holdco LLC. Charlotte Business Journal independently reported the rejection after the county planning board had recommended denial in August.
The county’s Aug. 3 agenda described the proposal as 309 single-family detached homes under the Planned Development-Residential conservation option and 309 age-restricted single-family detached homes under the senior housing option. The site is on the south side of Brevard Place Road at Old Plank Road in Ironton Township.
The vote removes 618 proposed homes from Lincoln County’s near-term development pipeline unless the applicants return with a revised request. The Business Journal reported that the developers intend to continue working with the county.
The reviewed records did not disclose a project investment figure or construction timeline.
