STALLINGS – HMF Americana has acquired a development site from Harris Teeter near the border of Stallings and Weddington for a planned 221-home mixed-use community.
The project will include cottage-style rental homes, with a portion of the residences designed for people age 55 and older. Plans also call for about 10,000 square feet of multi-tenant commercial space and additional land for future expansion.
HMF Americana describes its communities as combining elements of build-to-rent and multifamily development. The company said this project will be its first mixed-use development in the Charlotte area.
Site work is expected to begin in October. Vertical construction is expected to start in the first quarter of 2027, with initial resident move-ins planned for the third quarter of 2027.
Dowell Finch of New South Properties is leading commercial leasing for the property.
The acquisition expands HMF Americana’s Charlotte-region pipeline. Frank Warren, the company’s Southeast regional director, said the location offers an opportunity to add housing and commercial options in a growing area.
