MATTHEWS – Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont opened Rewind, a specialty record and media store, Friday in downtown Matthews.
The store at 100 W. Matthews St. focuses on donated physical media, including vinyl records, CDs, DVDs, cassette tapes and VHS tapes. Goodwill said inventory will rotate as donations come in, and select specialty albums may be priced individually.
Rewind includes a listening room where customers can preview select media. Posted everyday prices include vinyl at $4.99, VHS tapes at $2.99 or five for $10, DVDs at $3.99 or three for $10, CDs at $2.99 or four for $10, and cassettes at $2.99 or four for $10.
The building will continue accepting donations of all kinds at a drop-off area behind the store, not only records and media.
Grand-opening hours run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Regular store and donation drop-off hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily after the opening weekend.
Goodwill described Rewind as an expansion of its specialty-store lineup. The nonprofit said purchases and donations support its mission and create opportunities for people in the community. It did not disclose the store’s staffing level or investment.
