CHARLOTTE – Huntington National Bank has leased two additional floors at One South, doubling its regional headquarters footprint to four floors as the bank expands across the Carolinas.
The bank will occupy the full 39th and 40th floors of the 40-story building at 101 S. Tryon St. Huntington opened its regional headquarters there in 2023 and said several hundred employees already work at One South and other locations across greater Charlotte.
The Charlotte Business Journal reported that Huntington has employees waiting for space at the uptown office. The two-floor expansion provides additional capacity for the bank’s business lines, operations and support functions in Charlotte.
Huntington said it has opened 14 full-service branches in 10 Carolinas markets as part of an earlier plan to establish about 55 branches across North Carolina and South Carolina.
The bank also plans to install its name near the top of One South. The planned sign will face South Tryon Street and is expected to be installed in the coming weeks, according to Huntington and WFAE. The sign is separate from the two-floor lease.
The additional floors increase Huntington’s Charlotte operating capacity as the Ohio-based bank builds a larger Carolinas network. The announcement did not disclose the added square footage, lease terms, construction cost, occupancy date or a specific number of new Charlotte jobs tied to the two floors.
